Description
Silk chiffon Cape Peignoir / Angel-Wing Robe, sometimes called a capelette peignoir.
In the 1920s-30s boudoir culture, a peignoir wasn't just a robe — it was hostess-wear. Women would receive morning callers or have breakfast in their boudoir in a matching set: a silk satin or silk charmeuse bias-cut slip + a sheer overdress/robe.
The "cape" version is the most dramatic: Peach slip not included

• Front: It crosses over in a deep V and ties inside with a silk ribbon or exerior snap — a loose open fit with closure under the lace
• Trim: Yours has that wide ecru lace border — it's French-style Chantilly / filet lace, very typical 1920s. The ivory/ecru color against the pale peach/nude chiffon is the palette you see over and over in that era.
 — pre-Depression quality. BODY of the robe is a satin type fabric

Color and lace. That tea-stained ecru lace and blush/nude chiffon was huge 1928-1932.
Label: Sax-Kay, Detroit. Sax-Kay had a store designed for retailer Sax-Kay 1426 Washington built in 1925 and "According to the 1926 R. L. Polk City Directory Sax-Kay sold lingerie". Wayne State's costume archive has several Sax-Kay pieces listed as "Label in back: Sax Kay Detroit." They were a high-end Detroit lingerie shop that sold private-label French-style boudoir sets.
So you're looking at late Flapper to early Hollywood Regency, about 1929 give or take a year.
Materials
• Outer robe: 100% silk chiffon — probably silk georgette/chiffon, which is why it's so fluid
• Lace:

Care & value
• Don't hang it long-term on a wire hanger — the silk shoulders will shatter. Padded hanger or flat storage in acid-free tissue.
• Dry clean only, and only with a cleaner who does vintage silk. Chiffon this old will water-spot.
• Condition notes from my photos: some wrinkling/pressure marks on the satin slip are normal for silk that old. The chiffon itself looks remarkably intact with no large holes.
It has not been professionally cleaned or steamed. For the age it has been stored nicely. I haven't been able to find one of these in about 10 years. Due to age there will be some wear but over all I think it looks really good. It has a little shoulder repair. It's sturdy. Very wearable size M the Lace detail shows imperfections here and there
all sales are final I've tried to describe to the best of my ability. Ask questions right now we are only shipping within the USA as-found vintage. The black photos are exact taken in my boudoir look over carefully
