Antique Hand Beaded Metallic Embroidered Sash – Balkan Ottoman Style – Glass Stones – c.1900

Stunning antique hand-stitched headband, richly adorned with metallic gold embroidery, vibrant glass cabochons, and detailed beadwork. Believed to originate from the Balkans or Ottoman Empire region, c.1890–1920. Possibly used in folk dress or ceremonial costume. Features hand-set glass stones, faux jade beads, and couching over velvet or silk.  Esp lovely are the czech glass "log" beds, flat back.                                         Pressed glass cabochons, many with foiled or iridized finishes, almost looks like an opal set in metal prongs.

Green stones look like vintage Czech glass or faux jade beads.

Tubular bugle beads (blue and red) are also consistent with Czech or Venetian production.

Pearl-like seed beads are either celluloid-coated glass or early plastic.

Condition front is good for age with some loose threads and wear to fabric. Wonderful piece for collectors, costumers, or restoration.

Measurements: 17" long 4" wide at center, SILK ON BACK IS FALLING OFF we added hand stitched a couple of elastic ties for the shoot. It needs new backing. This could have been for the waist but I feel it was for the head. Its a wonderful textile.
